The Timberwolves Are a Team of the Future

Everyone knows it, its inevitable. The Timberwolves of Minnesota, who have been nothing but an embarrassment in the NBA up to this point, show flashes of a great potential at times. The latency of some of the younger players such as Karl-Anthony Towns, a no doubt Rookie of the Year this year, Andrew Wiggins, averaging 20.8 PPG and a tremendous 28.7 PPG this month,  Zach Lavine, who proved he is more than a dunker, and a good bunch of veterans.

While this is all hypothetical that they will in fact be a good team, they currently are struggling. With a dismal record of 26-52, a 33% win percentage, they are at the bottom of the West and are looking at a lottery pick for this coming draft. This can be big, however, because they have the best young talent in the league, in my mind, and another solid rookie can put them on the map again.

The Timberwolves had been a pretty decent team in the early 2000s participating in the Western Conference Playoffs for 8 straight years, from 1996 to 2004. In fact, they even had the number 1 seed in the West in the 2003-04 season with Kevin Garnett leading the way. The Wolves have had a number of solid NBA players in the recent year, the most recent being Kevin Garnett and Kevin Love, however never were a real force in the league. They have never won a championship.
Kevin Love and Kevin Garnett were some of the best Timberwolves players to play

This might change in the upcoming years. This year, due to their poor record, Minnesota is projected the fifth pick in the lottery who can turn into players such as Jamaal Murray, Jaylen Brown, Ivan Rabb, and even a possibility at Buddy Hield. This also means that they can get a couple picks higher or lower in the lottery, their placement is currently as the 5th worst team in the league.

Jamaal Murray could end up in the T-Wolve's hands
Here is how I envision the lineup, based on Chad Fords Big Board Draft picks and this does not include potential trades or the selection of different players:

Starting 5:
PG- Zach Lavine
SG- Jamaal Murray *
SF- Andrew Wiggins
PF- Karl-Anthony Towns
C- Perry Ellis */ Gorgui Dieng

Reserves:
Ricky Rubio (G)
Tyus Jones (G)
Shabazz Muhammed (SF)
Tayshaun Prince (SF)
Kevin Garnett (PF)
Nikola Pekovic (C)
Adrein Payne (PF/C)
*Upcoming rookies based on the draft board, subject to change; depth chart made by current roster and upcoming rookies, trades or free agent signings have not factored in.
Andrew Wiggins was last years Rookie of the Year and can be a potential All-Star

With all this said, it's doesn't mean that the Timberwolves are going to be good in the future becuase no one can predict the future... yet ☺ . But the potential for this team is limitless and only time will tell if they can reach their peak or not.
