As I mentioned in a post (What Does the NBA Regular Season Record Mean for the Warriors?) the Warriors seem to have hit the falling point of their magical journey this season. Being down 3-2 in a series with the up-and-coming OKC Thunder, it will be tough to be playing on June 2nd against the Eastern Conference Champions.
However, let's remember how great this team really is. Achieving the greatest regular season record in NBA history is definitely something to be proud about and they still do stand a chance. Teams who have been down 3-1 at one point in a playoff series have a 9-223 record of winning the round. That does mean the Warriors stand a chance and a little more motivating would be the fact that the Houston Rockets pulled that off in last year's playoffs against the Clippers.
It does seem like the Thunder have found their mojo now and are my pick to win the series and face the Clevland Cavaliers. The Thunder were one of the most dominant teams in the West, boasting NBA superstars Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. During the regular season, it seemed like they couldn't coexist, primarily Westbrook with his questionable decision making and tunnel vision. Durant had been the main scorer in Oklahoma City until recently with Westbrook, but it seems now that they are working together in perfect harmony.
The 1-2 punch of KD and Westbrook is at it's best in the Playoffs this year |
The Cavaliers steam-rolled past the Eastern Conference |
