Do the Cavs Have What It Takes to Win a Title?

This year, it seems, as if a LeBron team isn't dominant. This hasn't been a case since his early days in the NBA. With a lot of drama occurring within the front office of the organization and with the players, the Cleveland Cavaliers are flooded with problems. Everything from on the court chemistry to coaching issues. This article will discuss their "Big 3" and issues they have dealt with.
Head Coach David Blatt was unfairly fired after coaching the Cavs to the first seed in the East

One incident that occurred this season was the firing of David Blatt who had the record of 30-11 and led the Cavaliers to the first seed in the East before being fired. This enraged many NBA fans and personnel. The blame was mainly put on The King's hands because he had voiced his displeasure with the coach many times. They then hired Tyron Lue, LeBron had supported his campaign throughout, and he hasn't shown much to be impressed about. They haven't really been a consistent team, not one that many teams should fear. They have lost to countless teams from mistakes that they should've addressed throughout the season and it is now come back to haunt them.

When Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, and LeBron James joined forces, it seemed almost unfair to have such a good team. Yet time has told the story that this "Super team" wasn't so super after all. Kevin Love went from a superstar player in Minnesota, averaging 26.1 PPG and 13.5 RPG in the 2010-11 season and a consistent 25 point and 10 rebound player, to now just trying to fit in with the Cavs, he now has 16.2 PPG and 9.8 RPG. While the numbers seem solid, Love isn't the same player he used to be and is highly inefficient for the Cavaliers.

Kevin Love, while still a great player, doesn't seem to fit in well with the Cavs

Some argue that Kyrie Irving, averaging an impressive 19.3 PPG and 4.7 APG this season, isn't really a true point guard. He takes over many times, almost excessively, and doesn't look to pass often. While this mentality is fine for other positions, the point guard's main job is to facilitate the ball and make other players around him better. This is another highly debatable topic because the point guard position in basketball has now transcended into a scoring first mentality.

And finally The King, LeBron James. It seems to me that LeBron isn't very happy in Cleveland, while expressing his deep love for the city and how he yearns for a championship for the Cavaliers, his on and off the court actions this year are more than questionable. Sure he's on of the best to ever play the game, but to continuously post cryptic tweets that are targeted at your teammates and seemingly be the on-court coach, he is trying his best to bring a title. Now he could sign with another team this offseason, yet that seems unlikely if they don't win a championship and it would damage his brand.

All in all, the Cavs have all the pieces but it still hasn't clicked for them. The potential of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love has not been unleashed in Cleveland, LeBron doesn't seem to be the same force he was, the front office has to deal with many issues, the list is endless but one thing is for certain. Come playoff time, King James transforms into an immortal being. We all know how good he can be in the playoffs and we will see again this year if he can make the NBA Finals for a 7th time and bring the city of Cleveland the championship they have been long waiting for.
