The Boogie Issue

Demarcus Cousins is widely regarded as the best center in the NBA, but that title doesn't come with problems. This season, it seems, that the Kings organizations and Cousins has reached their boiling point. Demarcus didn't want to play under head coach George Karl, but rather than listening to their franchise player, the Kings kept Karl instead. It's obvious that the Kings do not know what they are doing. After being in the playoff race for much of the beginning of the year, the Kings have turned into a huge disappointment.

It seems like the best choice is for the Kings and Cousins to move on. I believe that a trade involving Cousins for a first overall pick would be great for Sac town to begin the rebuilding process. It is also hard to get star talent to Sacramento because of Demarcus. He seems like a pain to deal with as a teammate and so far, no big name free agents have landed on the Kings.

One scenario that seems optimal for Boogie is to be traded to an up and coming team, such as the Celtics or Lakers. A team that is on the rise. It is certain that Demarcus Cousins deserves more than how his Sacramento days have given him, in spite of putting up All-Star numbers; 27 point per game, 11 rebounds per game, and 3 assists per game, he still is yet to make a playoff debut.

As for the Kings, the front office may be to blame for the struggles. After being a force in the NBA in the early 2000s, the Kings have fallen from their throne. The ownership of Vivek Ranadive and managing of Vlade Divac seems to have caused this. Vlade never put Cousins in a good situation where he can benefit the team and be content. This ranges from not firing George Karl after Cousins showed that he couldn't deal with him, to not putting enough pieces around Big Cuz to help the fella out. This summer will be an interesting one for Sacramento as Cousins will most likely demand a trade. It is clear that Cousins is in his prime and can make a deep impact on any team he joins.
